The Boston Children's Chorus (BCC) was founded by Hubie Jones, a civic leader who for almost five decades has labored to address the social problems facing Boston's underserved children and communities. In 2001, Mr. Jones experienced a breathtaking performance by the nationally renowned Chicago Children's Choir, and returned to Boston determined to replicate this innovative program, as there were no organizations in Boston that effectively combined a mission for artistic excellence with an agenda for social change. He gathered the support of civic leaders and, after a year of planning and pilot projects, the Boston Children's Chorus was launched in October of 2003.

Since the BCC's inception, our programs have grown rapidly. Twenty children were accepted into an initial pilot program, and in the current season, we have almost 500 singers representing over 50 of Boston's urban and suburban neighborhoods participating in twelve different choirs in five Boston locations: the South End, Allston-Brighton, South Boston and Dorchester.

The 2012 - 2013 season represented 10 Years of Harmony for BCC where the chorus had its biggest sell-out concert at the annual Holidy Celebration at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. In more tragic circumstances BCC returned to perform at  that venue for the Interfaith Service in April- an event that was attended by President Obama. The season rounded off with a World Premiere performance at the Institute of Contemporary Art, a quick visit to Australia and a tour of Southeast Asia.

The Puffin Foundation Ltd. has sought to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their race, gender, or social philosophy. Why the Puffin? The Puffin, once endangered in the northeastern United States, was returned to its native habitats through the efforts of a concerned citizenry. Our name is a metaphor for how we perceive our mission in the arts: to join with other concerned groups and individuals to ensure that the arts not merely survive, but flourish at all levels of our society

"Dick Berry has been a photographer for more than 25 years working in commercial studios around the country and running his own studios in Chicago and Michigan shooting regional and national ads. With a lifelong passion for wildlife and conservation, Dick is now using his knowledge and experience in photography to help others. His goal is to help you improve your photography skills and bring awareness to the conservation efforts of many exceptional organizations. With his assistance, you will return home from each trip with not only memories, but also some of the best images that you are capable of capturing. Applying his experience, passion, and attention to detail, Dick will teach you how to use light and composition to their advantage. Reviews of the days shooting, and questions dealing with how to better capture images in the field will be discussed on a personal level." - Capture Africa Tours
